ill have to double check. did it only happen when the car warmed up?Comment

I've had this happen twice. It randomly went away, and I think it was because I wrung it out a little bit that the idle returned to normal.'89 325i track sloot

Yes. Well, most specifically, I start the car (warmed up) and the idle bounced from 1k to 2k, it was like it was revving to race someone, but I was entirely off the throttle. So I try restarting the car, deos no good. I try accerating in a low gear to ~5k, and after a few minutes of this, it stops. It put it in first, no gas, it rolls forward and jerks when it revs. Strange sh*t.'89 325i track sloot

sounds like we have the same problem. if I'm idleing at a light and release the clutch real quick it will go away. I'll have to give it hell when my exhaust is doneComment

I'm going to dig in there eentaully and see what is dirty, and see if that makes a difference.'89 325i track sloot

well, i took the ICV out. i thought i cleaned it but it wouldnt even move when i wiggled my hand. i have to pry it with a flat head screw driver to break it free. no more jumping idle!
Now it seems like its idling to low. could that be because there is no back pressure from having no exhasut yet?Comment

not sure, got late and my light doesnt work and my RPM jumps around. ill find out more tomorrow when i go get my exhaust done.Comment
