It sounds like you have some sort of big problem with your intake manifold... I'm not sure exactly what.

Matt, ill get you a pic, you want me to take the injector cover off? so your saying my manifold is not sealed properly to the block? i do recall that i had an issue getting the last nut on, to the back of the motor, you think that would give a bad enough seal? ill get you some pics today to look at before i pull the manifold off. you think its also related to my brake pedal feel?

Dude, get a video of that, seriously. I don't even know how it would be "expanding".

It really sounds like the manifold itself is broken but that would cause a huge vacuum leak and it wouldn't just cause you to run lean but it shouldn't run at all... and I dunno what your brake pedal feels like but obviously with a vacuum leak this big your brakes would work as they would with the engine off (no vacuum assist).

thats what i dont understand, i wouldnt have a perfect idle, and it does run okay when i drive it down the street, just that it has prolly 160hp.

What is your check engine light doing? Do you have any codes?

I am sorry that my comment really wont contribute to your thread but I am doing a 99 S52 swap in the next few weeks and I'm wondering what ECU/DME you are using? I was told that a M50 will work.....

I am going to read this thread in its entirity as there seems to be alot of info that I might be able to use.

              Thanks!!

you mean the one that doesnt function with the AKG harness adaptor lol!!! im going to have to to get a diagnostic plug reader to see what code its kicking out, ill need to scan it once in a while anyways.

BigD, the pedal feel IS hard as it is with the engine off!! i have no assist, i blead the fucken things for an hour, the fucken pedal moves like an inch from the very top. i have something hooked up ass backwards for sure, im going to get my tech support buddy to help me disassemble the manifold, he will figure this out in a heart beat.
also, after i had it running that day the brakes where actually applied a bit, enough to not let the car roll backwards. im not looking forward to pulling that strut bar off, ill take pics of how much i have to bend that bar to get it on...

Platanos- im using the wiring harnessing from a 325 obd 1 car, and also the matching DME label 413.

Sounds like you definitely have a major vacuum leak. When you get on the gas, the vacuum the engine is pulling increases, so the leak may not happen until you step on the gas. Do you have a vacuum gage you can hook up?

That's what I'm thinking too - but if the manifold broken enough to deform, I just have a hard time believing the engine would continue running with such a leak - but it would explain why it's happy at idle, but runs like shit under throttle, lean, and no brake assist...

If you can get some "T" adapters, you could hook it up to any vacuum line coming out of the manifold. Maybe even on the booster line. This will let you see if you have any vacuum at all. If you do make a video, make sure to use a tripod or lean the camera against a wall or something. It might be hard to see the "expansion" if the camera is shaking while being hand-held.

                          Let's figure this one out!

i just can't see the manifold expanding...its pretty damn hard, even it were cracked it wouln't just expand. i'd like to find out what you problem is your car should still be hauling pretty good even with decent a vacuum leak

if you have the obd2 manifold why not try that? see if your manifold is the problem
