heres more, you can see the bearing that exploded, and actually wore out and melted the ball bearing together, if anyone needs them i have the part numbers for the bearing that cost me 29 bucks from a bearing company rather than 100 from the dealer.

i painted it, i got bored waiting for the bearing to come in at work

hers what came out of my diff once i got the bearing off with a hydalic press, you can see everything was melted.

this is what the bearing is suppose to look like lol, pressing it back on.

anf finally pressing the new cup into the diff bore

so now the diff is good as new, always cheaper to rebuild than get another 20 year old diff.

little update, i took the 2.93 appart, pretty easy, and i dont have any shavings in the casing, the only place that seems to be my problem is the shaft that bolts to the driveshaft. i can move it a 1/4" up and down. anyone know what size that monster nut on the end of it is??

im going to see if i can fix this instead of getting another one. im wondering if the actual casing is fucked, ill swap it with the 4.10 casing.

I'm in the NW suburbs, but I don't mind coming down to the Detroit area at all to meet. Early weekday evenings are good. PM me sometime.

It shouldn't look the same. The E28 rear cover looks like this.

The drive flanges are also a different size than the E30.......BUT, they are easy to swap. The covers are plug and play. For the flanges, just wedge a piece of wood between the case and the lip on the flange and give it a good whack with a mallet. They pop right out and you can replace them with the ones from your E30 Diff.

Yes, the E28 diff will work fine-you just have to swap over the rear cover from your E30 diff to it and it will bolt right up. I 'think' the drive flanges are the same, but if not just swap those over also-takes 30 seconds to do that.
