Sorry to bring back such an old post...

I'm picking up an M20B25 engine/5-speed tranny to keep around as a spare. The guy pulled it in favor of an M50 swap and I need to get it out of his driveway tomorrow. The pics linked above look great, but I'd like to know exactly where the chains are hooked/looped at the front and rear of the engine and if I need to pull the tranny off to move it.

I just need to get it from his place, into the back of a truck, and into my garage.

    Thanks

There should be loops on the m20 for hooking the chain up. I'm sure you'll see them, their somewhat big...

You don't need to remove the transmission.

In the back, there is a large cast boss on the engine block, at the top, on the intake side.

In the front there is a ~1/8" thick metal hook, shown as part number 10 in the attached diagram.

I stripped the accessories off an M20, and Mike325 and his friend were able to remove it from their truck with their bare hands. Strapping young lads--I probably would have dropped it on my foot.

Moved it with an engine hoist onto the truck, then off the truck at my house with another engine hoist. Never could have done it otherwise, tranny and intermediate shaft (as well as all accessories) were still connected and the wifey isn't that strong. Now it's sitting in the front yard dripping oil...

                      How about transporting these motors...
I've shoved an M5x into the rear of a pathfinder, and I have two friends with e30 tourings. But I am seriously impressed with the shoving of an M52 in the back of a touring a la (steve?) at http://www.e3024v.com/. Must be a pita to clear the tail gate and not bang the roof or door at the same time...
