I've seen people using the 260 for this swap for 10 years. Track usage, street usage, the whole gamut. Never seen a catastrophic failure. I wouldn't be too worried. Frankly, I'd rather have the 260 in there than the POS e36 unit.

Even without an inspection plate, you are allowing debris and water to enter the bell housing much more easily than it could otherwise.

And yes, dowel pins are there for a reason too. That reason is to locate the parts since a bolt on an oversize hole is not designed to do that.
I like the new guy.

..your responses make me think its no biggie at all. It would help for me to see it in person.........or photo.

    Any one?.....

If it really didn't matter, don't you think BMW would have saved themselves millions of dollars by not using those additional bolts? Will it work with only four bolts? Sure, it'll work. Will it be 100% as rigid and stiff as it would be if all of the bolts were in? No.
Instinct? maybe... or just common sense. Im also not a kid just trying to throw more hp into a $2k car. I want a reliable worthy track ride.....i have alot of money in her....and my life as well. But on the other hand.....BMW made a poor shift linkage/ poor motor mounts etc. My point is many of BMW's decisions are money based not performance based. And many designs are based out of fear of liability....BUT...... I get your point for sure! Im just wondering what everyones experience has been.

IDK if dowle pins would work or not im assuming so.
I know it wouldnt be as ridged but it will work. I am porbly going to throw one more on the bottom but then again i only plan on light track if that other wise just daily driven.

For his app. I would suggest trying to get some more in there if your going heavy track. Espesialy if you are running an M/// motor with more power. I am only running an M50 so iam not pushing any where near what you would with a tracked M/// motor
