If it really didn't matter, don't you think BMW would have saved themselves millions of dollars by not using those additional bolts? Will it work with only four bolts? Sure, it'll work. Will it be 100% as rigid and stiff as it would be if all of the bolts were in? No.

I am using it, no issues. There's 4 main bolts and the 2 starter bolts. Perfectly fine.

I don't think you have to worry about it holding up. My turbo car made more power than this one and it was just fine.

Im using my 260, so far with dougs bracket every thing is working great. It lined up perfict. NOT running yet though, but yes you will have issues with the holes i only have 4 bolts in there as of yet.
The two main top ones that are pretty big fuckin bolts, and also there are 2 of the bigger torks head bolts in there.

As for if you plan to track your car, not trying to say you wouldnt already know this. I would find a way to get some more bolts in there.

I was thinking of maybe finding some of the ones that kinda line up. Then just drilling a hole and making it so i could get a bolt in there. Locking them to gether with a Nut and washer on the other side just for some added strength.

Any one say NAY or have a better idea.

So who has been using the M20 getrag 260 and oe drivershaft w/ their M/S 50 swaps??......

I plan on using Doug's custom tranny bracket

My set up will be mainly track driven so Im concerned about robustness. My concern is about all the engine/tranny holes NOT lining up. Some have run the set up w/ the mis aligned holes unattached and have reported no issues.

What have you done?..

any issues?
do you track car?

Id like to save the cash by using the 260 set up but dont want to end up having headaches and repair bills down the road. Im just thinking this set up may not be good for mainly track work.
