S52 Stock Exhaust Clearance Problem, Ebay Header?

The stock exhaust manifold from my S52 runs into my front subframe of my 85 318i. I think I can use the ebay headers I read about on this forum to get over the subframe, but I wanted to make sure before I order them. Thanks. Pictures would be great.

yea, that doesnt make sense. an s52 manifold should never get close to the subframe. the downpipe probably will, but not the actual manifold. If you have fitment issues with that, then the ebay headers will def. hit. mine touch the subframe but i didnt use the shims that were included with the headers.

Ebay headers are well documented, and when mine rubbed my subframe I kinked the header once I knew how far to kink it.

Stainless is infamous for the level of warpage when welding 2 pieces. It's a pain to build spoolpieces for refinery applications if you aren't aware of that. It's an art form to place your tacks in such a way to end up with a straight piece going into your buildup passes.

The good thing is there is nearly an exact science to the travel you get, so you can actually compensate for twisted pipe/settled equipment if need be.

id be curious on the mounts hes using also. i fit the obd2 manis using the m5 mounts with tons of room.

Thanks for the help. I did mean the down pipe will hit the subframe. We just looked at the manifold and could tell the down pipe will hit...abouth half the pipe will hit. I think I bought e28/5 series mounts, but need to check on that. Looks like I'm going to pick a set of the ebay headers and go from there. Thanks for the help.

Im using obd2 manifolds and downpipes, no clearance issues after using the treehouse CABs. It must be a mount issue.
