    Yeah, the issue may be that the e36 temp sensor (dash gauge one) uses two wires and the e30 one only uses 1. So you end up with two wires at the X20 that only connect to 1 wire at the C101. Choose wisely...

      yes also if you are using an e30 gauge with that manifold thing from zionsville, you need to ground it somehow. e30 temp gauges are single wire to ground while e36 uses a signal wire and then grounds in the dme. thats a problem that i had.
