What Are You Guys Running Temps?

hey ive been driving my swap for about 150 miles now. and my car is a 85e with a 94 2.5 vanos. it has a dinan stage 1, cai, headers, 2inch straight exhaust.
(incase any of this matters.) i am running my stock m20 fan and using a e36 radiator. i burped the system and replaced the water pump and bleed the system by burping it and running it without the expansion cap. my temp at idle is right at half and when running it stays in between the half mark and the 3 2/4 mark. i have no leaks either. is this normal for this swap, would a lower themostat help? or do you guys think im not getting enough air at speed and i need to install and electric fan, what are you guys running at?
1985 s50b30, 91 front and rear valence, e30 m3 suspension, advance design coilovers, GC camber caster plates full solid bushings alla round, adjustable rear arms, ireland sways front and back, ireland big brake kit front and back , team dynamics wheels, 24lb injectore ltw fly, intake , headers, exhaust, so forth so on......

OK, I am going to finally admit my car is having tendencies to creep up to line #3 in long stop situations like 5pm highway traffic and crappy drive thru service. Last week my belt tensioner self destructed and I replaced it and a few other pulleys I have had laying around waiting for the opportune moment.

I noticed when I cranked it up and put water in the fan is pushing toward the radiator!! I was running warm at first about a year and a half ago when I first got it goin but have since put in the AA thermostat and stewart racing wp.

I installed the fan the same as it was and has been for years, matter of fact it was this same way on the M20. I played around with it for a minute and there is no way to get it to clear the engine unless the fan clutch nut came out about another 4-5 mm more.

    Cliff's
    So..
What fan clutch/fan are you running and have you done the paper/water test to see which direction you fan is blowing/pulling?

im running a brand new e30 rad with my s50, 75deg tstat and all cooling components are new, and a 12" SPAL fan, and my running temp is a lil over 1/4, and when im in traffic it sits at about 3/8. i usually cruise on the highway with the fan off and it sits at 3/8 the whole time no matter how much i dog it, as long as im moving.

I'm sitting at the same mark on my swap w/ the same tstat also. New cooling stuff here as well. I'm running a 16" perma cool fan but only have had to turn it on once so far sitting to go through emissions for 20 minutes in one spot.

Shit, running around town I see temps around 175-180. When I'm sitting, I usually see around 190-200.

Same. Mine rarely dips away from the first mark. Running a HP 16" fan in front of the Rad. and AC condensor. I am running a PWR all alum rad. and a Stewart Comp. water pump too.

no u are not alone, I'm also running a mechanical fan. it rubs against the rad under hard breaking. ill be switching the electric this coming season. a trick to do is to put a zip tie to the rad support and a the rad that will stop this from happening.

it takes a bit of massaging to get it in there. but it fits fine.

I have the fan and fanclutch as well (for now). No issues with fit or temperatures. I run at 3/8 continuously. Ask me again this summer.

I have the fan were the depression part sits on the front of the fan clutch, in this orientation, the fan blows toward the rad, and away from the engine. I believe on the e30 it was the the opposite way, but the fan cleared the engine.

mine chills at 1/4 mark and gets tp around the 1/2 mark when sitting for extended periods of time. E-fan turns on at 1/2 though. Running new e30 318 rad and new stock water pump, 75* t-stat, 14" ebay slim fan and 2 bottles of redline water wetter with coolant/h2o at 1:1.

                          All on nonvanos m50

                          try using more water??

I think I need an electric puller and to toss the mech fan.
