    M50 Into 318is

    Hey guys

i got a few quetions if you dont mind :)

    i got a 95' vanos m50 325i (100,00 KMS) ;) im putting in my car ...91' 318is

the m50 is an auto tranny so im planning on using my m42 tansmission, e36 325I driveshaft (as far as i know i will need) and my e30 4.10 LSD

    good combination??

im trying to budget my spending limits since i have to pay for everything else lol

i would like to do the "m20 flywheel" upgrade, im pretty sure it will work from what i have searched. does anybody know the part numbers for the flywheel!

im just trying to double check everything before
    What are my options??

    thanks for the help!

I believe that you need to use the E36 transmission in order to pair it with the E36 driveshaft.

Not sure about what driveshaft you need to use with the Getrag 240 though.

Yes, the late model 240 behind the m42 will work w/ the m50. You need the e36 325i driveshaft and e30 325i selector rod and shifter though. The 4.10 will end up abit high reving at highway speeds and top out quickly because of the stock gears. I've read 3.73 is the best for middle of the road setup. Also, the small case I doubt would hold up to the increase in torque, if you launch it hard, I'd be worried.

All 325 'is' models had S3.73, except for later (airbag) automatics which had a S4.10. The M3 also had S4.10

Oh and you can re-use your m42 radiator. You'll need to run an electric fan though, which is a nice upgrade deleting the engine driven fan. More cleaner than running the later m20 cooling system.

im currently running a m50 with:
                          getrag 240
                          e36 325i manual driveshaft
                          m20 flywheel clutch
                          i had a 4.10 but upgraded to a 3.73 LSD

works great i really felt a difference when i upgraded to the 3.73 + its really fun on the track too...

                              2.93 will be too low.

M20 starter on this one as well? Matching it with the flywheel? (speculating here)
