    M50 non vanos.

I am going to make custom exhaust for my m50 non vanos. I need to know what size, I dont want to run duals. I want to run a single pipe, what size do i need? I got some saying 2.5 is enough i got some saying dual 2.25 i got some saying 2.5 dual. Come on what is the best setup for a m50 non-vanos.

    Thanks

    2.25" single pipe is enough.

Dual 2.5" or 2.25" is WAY too big.

^^that and it'll drone like a truck. Only go with bigger if you plan on FI later on.

Um, 2.25" single is smaller than the stock area.

2.5" single is almost identical to stock. Do this.

I think what I lost in torque is worth the top end scream on my M20 in going to 2.5" single.

                Sure sounds mean...

Luke, you didn't lose anything in torque, at least from the piping exclusively. The stock 2.5 pipes are 45mm, calculate the cross sectional area of that are 2.5" single and you get damn near the same number.

I am running a single 2.5" on my M30b35 (with no cat and debaffled muffler), plenty of flow.
Who is telling you to run dual 2.5? smack em

Yeah, it just feels less torque-y since it has more top end than before.

Usually when it feels faster up top, it's lost more down low than it's gained up top.

Single 2.5 is as big as I would go on an NA motor.

Single 2.5. Or use the OBDII midpipe.
