    s52 obd1 HP info.

Well, i tried searching but wasn't able to find what I was really looking for.. I have seen alot of s50 dyno sheets with similar mods, but i'm not sure how much hp or torque a s52 should yield over a s50.

How much rwhp should I shoot for if I do the following.. (The s52 dyno'd 212 rwhp in the stock obd2 m3)

    OBD1 s52 + ZF tranny
euro 3.5 inch HFM, CAI, exhaust (headers to straight pipes to muffler)
+ the right tune, i'm looking at either AA or conforti chips.. not really sure who else sells swap chips?

What are your thoughts on performance crank pulleys, and accessory belt pulleys?

Are cams really worth the extra $? It seems like if i am going to be spending so much money on say, sunbelt cams.. i might as well piece together a decent turbo setup for a bit more $ and create more hp..

    Thanks.

Just say no to crank pulleys. Accessory are ok.

Crank pulleys = no. It's there to damp out crank harmonics. TRM has off-the-shelf chips for the S52 OBD-I in your desired configuration. TRMho matt will be in this thread to tell you all about it.

Depending on the dyno I believe that setup should be good for around 230 whp +.

You sound to be looking at what I'm looking at doing as well.

I'm not shooting for numbers, I'm firing way past the ear to ear smiles.

Sorry for the grainy image, but here is the scan from my car after the intake, 3.5" HFM, and at that point "shitty stock headers/cat/Tri-Flow exhaust" setup, and appropriate Turner/Conforti chip.

As others have mentioned, do not do crank pulley, but accessory pullies are just fine. I thought cams were a real improvement, and well worth the cost. If you're going to do them, you may as well do the 24lb injectors as well (along with appropriate software changes). I liked the Turner/Conforti tune at that point, but others may have more aggressive tunes that you may like better. I like the feel and reliability of a NA motor, but others like FI. To each his/her own.

And that's about where most people stop, with maybe the exception of doing headers and a more free-flowing exhaust. If you want more NA, it'll cost you more than a turbo set-up, so you may want to mull that over. Good luck!

                Awesome, thanks for the info.

Now quick question, what exact mods were on your car prior to that dyno?

Prior to that dyno was an intake, 3.5" HFM, Conforti/Turner chip, and Tri-Flow Exhaust. That's it. Now, however, is a totally different story.

                    schweet numbers then!

What mods are you running now and have you dyno'd since then?

278 whp. He had some headwork done, shorty headers, Ti retainers, custom exhaust worth more than 5 r3v member's cars, etc.

For the most part, that does indeed sum it up. I don't think there's much else I can do other than stroke it and still leave it NA. I was tossing around the idea of MoTec a couple years ago, but lost interest because of some concerns on driveability.

very amazing#'s. I would be fairly happy with 280 rwhp in an e30.

Wait till evosport finalizes their cams, should be quite a bit better than sunbelts. With unfinished tuning they were at 284rwhp on a IP legal motor.
