feeler: thinkin bout selling the e30

hey guys, this is just a throw up, but i was just trying to get a feel for how much i could get for my swap. i bought the car with a salvaged title from an auction, only reason it was salvaged, was due to some rear quarter-panel damage, and lots of oxidation on the paint. after the body damage was fixed, and the car was color sanded and buffed, it looked amazing. i went through hell and back to do this swap, but it was worth it. the car is a blast to drive, i just want to start a new project and will need funds...anyways the car:

    '89 red 325i (126K on chassis)
    engine:
    '98 s52 only 59K
    full obd1 swap
    24# injectors
    3.5" hfm
    turner chip
3" exhaust from header back (a lil loud)
    16" electric cooling fan

    tranny and drivetrain:
    e36 m3 5 speed
    ltw flywheel
new clutch (w/3k miles on it)
    z3 3.0l short shifter

    suspension:
    eibach springs
    bilstein sports
    ie 22/19 sways

    wheels:
17x7 ebay racing hart knock offs: black center with aluminum lip
215/45/17 bfgoodrich kdws with great tread life left

just want to get a rough estimate on how much i could realistically get.

Salvage title will hurt your resale value, as well as the accident repair, but I'd say you are looking at somewhere around 8-12k or so.

Probably put that much into it and more, but thats life with cars...

I was thinking 8-10k as well. Essentially, someone will be paying for the swap and getting a car for free.

      The salvage title kills resale.

Has it passed bar, and is it smogged and plated? If it is there's probably more value in the car since you've done all the hard work. If it's not, good luck selling it in CA.

Smog is one thing, but verifying the swap and getting a BAR sticker so it's a street-legal swap is quite another.

Where are you located? If you're relatively local, I'd like to come see it.

you cant get a BAR sticker with an OBDII converted to OBDI as far as i know.

i say you could get around $8K, will be hard with the salvage title though. if it was a clean title, $10K would be easy.

your car better be worth at least 8-9k. My car is similar with a clean title and 5-lug e30 m3 swap, I wouldn't let it out of my hands for under $12k...couldn't rebuild it for less and it's too much fun!

Ask 9k and see what happens. It looks clean in the pics and it has miles since the swap which lends to its credibility. Good luck

If that's true, selling it in CA is a bit of a crapshoot, isn't it?

yeah, most people dont go through all that trouble just to sell it though, b/c its impossible to make profit.
