skip the lower business.....you really need to cut the firewall and push the motor back 3".

in all seriousness, if your talking about drysump, bumpsteer and trying to get you c-grav low.....you should start with a 50/50 weight transfer.

also, do you have a 5 lug swap? cant do roll centers on 4 lug cars and are forced to move the rack up. then, you might want to consider ALL the suspension geometry.....(raise rear sub, ca-angle adjustment ect) before worring about the center of gravity.

    just a thought.

noticed your from sw mi, gingerman this summer? cheers, jason

Am I the only one who gets the feeling this is another one of those guys who has done a couple of autocrosses and maybe even a track day, and now wants to build a stripped down, 10000lb corner balanced coil over, 50/50 balanced with maximally low CofG, 12" wide R compound, fuel celled, roll caged, dry sump/blueprinted/superturbocharged 800hp racer? Dude if you're an experienced racer I apologize, just seen too many of these. Usually people who go to these lengths (such as dropping an engine 2", I'm assuming for a lower center of gravity?), already know what they're doing or will pay a good shop to build them a race car.

I used to autox alot. Trophied at Pro Solo's in the Street Prepared car I built....I've got an idea how to build an autox car.
I will however say that YES I will get the engine in the car and running and it'll be a basic swap.............................................. ..................

BUT, that doesn't mean I shouldn't start looking into doing this stuff now............................................... ............................................If you are going to do it, do it right. Right?

Sure, especially if you have very specific requirements. Might as well rip on the car as is, and if you find it nose or top heavy, then you can start messing with the positioning. Like people said, there's already limited space for this engine. It may only be a 6 but it's very tall and long. If you want an engine with a lower cofg and one (the cofg) you can put further back, I'd personally look into an LS1 family motor...

SM is pretty wide open, but there are restrictions.....You have to use a production engine from original builder/corporate partner............For DSM's an Eclipse could have any Mitsu engine or Dodge/Chrysler engine. Just 1 example....

Well BMW uses GM automatics, so they're corporate partners. :) LS1 away

Oh well, it's a cool dream if they were. It'd be a cool loophole :)
