I am still thinking about m50 vanos in my 318is and use it as my dailydriver, I think I will be satisfied with almost 200hp under the hood, but if not what are possible mods for this engine and what are the prices and specs I will get. If this has been disscused before: sorry.
-there are turbo and supercharger setups I guess they will run around 3-5k, what specs do we get from m50tu

    Thank you!

This has NOTHING to do with M50's or 24 valves in general. Post up a thread in the M20 section.

I definitely see from this perspective. If I were swapping something into a 318is, it definitely wouldnt be an M20. That would be a step in the wrong direction.

I agree, I blew up the m42 and went for the m50, tons better, and great car in general for driving, and a great baseline for going s50 or turbo or anything like that in the future. But not manditory to go bigger, its peppy as is.

How much power are you expecting from m50tu+ s50 head? Is s50 head simple swap for m50tu?
                    Just curious.
                    Good luck with your project:grin:

with the s50 wiring harness and ecu the head swap should be as simple as bolting it on to the block.

Why not just bolt the cams in? It would be a WHOLE lot easier and you would only need, at the most, a valve cover gasket.

n/m, I just saw you said you were putting it on a NV block.

M50vanos head and S50 head are the same minus cams afaik.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.
