It is, especially when I put the R-compound Kumho V710's on for autocrossing.

My Kumho's are on a second set of Ronal ACT-LS wheels.

i'm surprised that you see no overheating with only the a/c fan working...run a/c too with no probs too?! since my temp gauge doesnt work i'm kind of skeptical of the spal 16" fan i added on the engine side. i still turn on the a/c fan whenever i run the car hard.

is that red race car yours too?!
      No more e30s for me.

The only fan I have on the car right now is the a/c fan. I have not seen any overheating although in the summer I use the override on/off switch (the one I added) to stay ahead of the engine temps.

The A/C compressor has been on the car since the swap. I haven't charged the system yet so last summer I didn't "use" the A/C but I plan on getting the system charged and using A/C this summer.

Yes, the red race car is mine also. I co-own that car with my friend Rob. We built most of that car together although the engine swap project in that car was his baby. While he was doing the work on that motor swap I was doing the work on the cabrio motor swap. I can't take credit for all the planning, design (and many hours) of the race car motor swap although I did help wrench on it. At the same time, he helped lend a hand on the cabrio project.

The race car is built for BMWCCA club racing D-Mod class. It has an M42 turbo motor.

that is simply badass i give both cars personal 10's man. hope you don't mind me taking a few ideas here are there

ever considered a Spal 16" 2.05thickness 1300cfm fan ($80). Firts right between the stock rad and the motor with maybe 1/4in to spare, i ran it in my s52 real hard on the track along with the a/c fan and it would see up to 205degrees (laser) after sessions which is kinda high hence my question. keep it up!!

                IMPRESIVE! Very nice combo!

A question too , maybe I'm blind , but for these swapps, M50, do you use or can install the viscous tat with fan or you need electric fan?

I need to check the space between my motor and the rad. I decided to go without the stock fan because it would be too close for comfort.

If I have the space for a Spal that would be the right thing.

                  Thanks for the compliments.

I think the answer to your question is... yes.

Some people install the stock engine fan (they have enough space), others decide to delete the fan and use an electric fan instead.

In my case I was concerned that the stock fan would touch the radiator so I decided to use the a/c fan by adding an on/off switch.

Real clean, looks really good. I'm just running the AC fan right now along with a lower temp tstat, aux fan switch, and bigger radiator. Seems to work really well, no overheating as of yet. Did you ziptie the alternator cooler to the radiator?
Perot isn't a Hillary hater, but he's not a fan either, relating the bumper sticker he received that reads: "Monica Lewinsky's Ex-Boyfriend's Wife for President."

Yes, the alternator cooler duct has 2 very small zipties holding it in place.

                            Hello Paul and Gents,

I have seen said vehicle in person, and to date, it is the only E30 that has impressed me enough to relinquish my disdain for the color Bronzit. I challenge anyone to find a cleaner Bronzit.

It also happens to be one of the more well thought out and clean DOHC installs that I have seen. Keep up the impeccable work Paul.

Looking at those pics is going to end up costing me a bunch of money.

BTW, does the CD43 play MP3's burned to CD?

I don't believe it does, but someone says they do.

I love it. So clean, so tastefully done. REALLY makes me yearn for a 'vert again (my first BMW was a Salmon/Cardinal '87 iC).
