i just got off the phone with the mechanic
indeed it was him who put the bolts in, but, according to him, only because the thread inside the block was too big to take the M8.
I know for fact tho that the thread inside wasn't proper SAE, as the threads on the SAE bolt i took out was all mangled.

it's been scientifically proven that helicoiled threads are usually few times stronger than the threads in the original medium (in addition to spreading the load on individual threads more evenly).
btw, from my brief research, the helicoils were invented to fix stripped threads on airplanes. I say if it's good enough for planes, it's good enough for a car ;)
