    Daily driver swapped turbo car?

So tax return season is here, and the way I see it I have three options.

    A) Turbo
    B) Cams, headers, chip-use the rest of the cash for jagerbombs
    C) Put the money in savings <-- this is really not an option for it is to responsible then I am prepared to be.

I would like to do a turbo setup but I have a 1 hour commute and really do not want to sacrifice a lot of reliability. Is there anyone daily driving a swapped turbo car? I am willing to run low boost but do not want to spend over 2500 or so.

For daily, keep it NA. If you want to go turbo, buy a Honda daily :P.

    Keep it slideways!!

The reliability of a DIY turbo kit depends on you and the choices you make.

Turbos can be plenty reliable, just don't be cheap :)

I spun a bearing on my DD on track and was without a car for ~6 weeks. It was especially annoying because I was already deep into the build of my track car and had skipped all the DEs this past year due to all my money/time being put into trackrat. I got the itch near the end of the year and decided to run one last DE with my DD before winter came. Not only did I have to rebuild my motor, the track project had to be put on hold for a few months. It was a horrible experience and I vowed never to track my daily again.

The point of my story is I too have been very tempted to build a e30s52 turbo.

And yes, everyone knows FI setups can be mostly reliable but it takes $ and imo, I'm not sure 2500 will cut it.

Cliff notes: I too desire a FI S52 in my e30, but will be staying with a stockish S52 due to fear of being without a car.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

That is the sobering story I needed. It is so hard to compromise between track and daily.

My FI m50 car will be my DD. Im pretty confident in my skills and i plan on keeping a smallish tool kit and spares of stupid parts in the car at all times untill im comfortable to drive it long distances. AAA plus is worth it too. 100 mile towing free!!!! I can at least get it towed to a shop no matter where i am haha.

In future I'll be going same direction. Daily driver for me only just means less horsepower. I'd build it to be reliable w/ 300hp or so and run it hard.

I went with the cam route, I can't say if it was worth the 2k for the setup, but it is definitely more reliable then a turbo setup.

Are you satisfied with the power or do you think youll be wanting more in the future? This is my only concern with staying NA.

Search a32guy on bf.c hes in the process of working the bugs out in a 450 whp DD e36 m3.

Probably a good page to look for.
