2) where are you getting the tank and fittings from? special order through BMA? or dealer or another store?
you have listed the elbow fittings, but it is not clear if they come with the right grommets (plugs) attached.
In the picture here it looks like -yes they are attached-
but in the picture here it looks like maybe -no they are sepparate-
(note also there are two "plug" sizes...)
you can see a (maybe correct) pic of the (maybe correct) grommet part here:
Find ATE, 390088 Brake Master Cylinder Grommet; Seal from Master Cylinder to Reservoir; 7x22mm 811611817 at discount prices in our extensive Audi, BMW, VW auto parts catalog. AutohausAZ offers a large selection of ATE parts online. For models with ATE master cylinder, small post type reservoir. 2 per car. Fits Audi 200 Quattro, 4000 Quattro, 5000, 5000 Quattro, 100, 100 Quattro, 200, BMW 530i, 528i, 2002tii, 633CSi, 3.0CS, 630CSi, 2800CS, 3.0CSi, 3.0S, 3.0Si, VW Quantum. 34311121911 390088 W0133-1642402
and it is probably the same part as here:
look for "grommet (brake master cyl), large outside/small inside for elbow"
(there is a similar grommet, without much description, a few lines above)
2002AD sells the grommet also, but do not list the elbow:
Grommets (2) Required (For Tii Master Cylinder) 34 31 1 121 911
Or does the MC already have grommets that work (if yes, yours maybe ~18 years old and time for a replacement anyway?) and are they close enough to the same size inner diameter?
The 2002ad listing does makes it seem like a special grommet with smaller inner diameter is needed or at least desirable.
3) Finaly, are you getting a new o-ring for between the booster and the MC?
Let us know what you actualy order and where from, and what you actualy receive, and if the old e30 cap fits, etc.
And good luck!
Anyone else who already knows these details, please chime in!

Hey man,
I haven't received the parts yet so I can't really say. I am aware that the grommet may not fit in the MC because it is smaller in diameter.
I order everything from Patrick @ BMA...
I should be getting this stuff today though so I will chime in a bit later today and let you know how this stuff looks!
If MR 325 could check out the thread and tell us what he used for these pieces that would be a big help as well :)

1) Are you assuming the existing e30 cap with float etc already on your car is going to fit the new 2002 reservoir? In my case I am hoping it works but have not bought the parts yet...

Hey dude & e30this,
I couldn't wait, so I ordered from Patrick@BMA:
- the reservoir
- 1m of hose (7$) (should be long enough)
- 2 elbow fittings
- 2 2002tii grommets (i.e the ones with smaller holes; they are dirt cheap so
no risk even if these are not necessary; also I assume they fit the e30 MC)
If anyone thinks of anything else helpful, lemme know.
Cheers!

I just received my reservoir and the fittings.
I'm going to have to order the 2002tii grommets too.
Care to share the P/N's?

Crap, I just noticed an entire other thread on this. You could spend months reading all the stuff here.
See Matt's post #79 of thread "Everything you wanted to know about brake boosters and master cylinders"
As for the right part number for the grommet, you already quoted it, see right above.
Grommets (2) Required (For Tii Master Cylinder) 34 31 1 121 911
However, Matt points out that the stock e30 325i MC will apparently not fit due to mounting difference, although some argue this point. So based on his input, ether get a 325ix MC or upgrade to an e34 or e32 25mm MC. And I don't know for sure if those grommets fit the 25mm MC, but from Matt's other posts it seems like they will.
And while you are in there, maybe a new o-ring for between the MC and the booster (BMA does not stock this part but put one on order for me). Bad news is again you have to choose between an old part (pn on the realoem ix booster page) or the new part for the 25mm MC. Probably both fit... Details all on realoem for whichever way you go.Last edited by Black_E30; 04-23-2008, 01:11 AM.

Its nice to have this info here as well because this is SPECIFIC to the IX booster :)
Missed the P/N in the previous post...whoops!
I'm going to order the o-ring and the proper fittings today!!

2002ti reservoir: use for both clutch and brake, or use separate reservoirs?
With a 325ix booster and a 2002ti reservoir, it looks like some folks used (or maybe just talked about using) a separate reservoir for the clutch fluid, and some not.
Who is happier with their set-up?
What set-up did you use?
Pictures?
References to posts that I missed?
Edit:
Matt in thread "New Remote Brake Fluid Reservoir Resources" wroteOriginally posted by matt View Post34 32 1 112 399. Has 3 outputs with one raised for the clutch. It's the perfect remote res. Just check it more often since it's a little small.
Matt
MR325 has a pictures on page 1 of this thread (thanks again). The closeup of the reservoir is with the clutch line not installed (a bunch of stuff is not installed), but in the other picture you can see the fluid line connected to the reservoir.
Unless I hear advice to the contrary, I'll assume that using the same reservoir works out just fine...Last edited by Black_E30; 04-25-2008, 11:57 AM.

forget it,
I got the part numbers from Pelican parts...
you guys have it in here, but it was a little all over the place...
Fittings (90 elbows): 34321102282 x2 <- this is cheaper from the dealership b/c you don't pay for shipping... when I had this in my shopping cart from pelican parts, shipping was ~ $10 more...
Grommets: 34-31-1-121-911-M4 x2
Expansion tank: 34-32-1-112-399-M4
Hose from Reservoir to MC: 21-52-1-163-714-M21
