maybe the ecu has crapped out? If the fuel pump, relay and whatnot are all in working order, the injectors aren't clogged, I think thats the last thing to be stopping fuel from flowing and your injectors to be firing.

Either that, or something isn't wired up right, but if you had it running before it wouldn't make sense if the wiring was screwy...

I'm not an expert (not that far along with the swap, just starting to get the engine in), but I can throw that out for an idea.

yeah, thanks. that had crossed my mind.

its probably something really f***ing stupid and easy to fix, i just dont know where to look. I've been doing searches on the forums trying to trouble shoot this and i've tried everything i've found so far and haven't gotten anywhere yet.

Are the injectors trying to fire? (as in, is the computer grounding them to pulse them?) Check with a test light.

I dont think you have conclusive evidence that the injectors arent clogged. Are you positive your ecu has ground?

All 6 injectors clogged at once? That doesn't happen.

Why dont you offer some advice then Mr. Knowitall?

                Okay, I'm an asshole.

the injectors would fire if they had fuel pressure to them..... I mistakingly took some weird vibrating for fuel flowing through the lines. instead of pulling the lines off the fuel rail while having the key on. also, i'll be going now to get the inline fuel pressure gauge that someone mentioned earlier....

I know the injectors would fire because a buddy of mine brought over "noid" (spelling?) lights, and each injector would fire whilst turning over the motor.

so, my problem is that my fuel pump is not turning on. I checked for voltage at the fuel pump and didn't get any. the relay is new, and according to the e30 bentley, the fuel pump relay is: "On 6-cylinder engines, the fuel pump relay socket should contain four wires having the following colors; red, red/white, green/violet, and brown/green."(section 6, page 11, left column at the bottom). That was the relay that i changed. However, then i realized that the bentley is for an e30, and the wiring came from a e36, and this relay socket is part of the motor wiring from the e36, so now i'm not sure if that is the same socket.

does anyone have an e36 bentley that can check which one is the fuel pump relay socket? and if it is the same as the e30, then why after changing the relay, does the fuel pump still not work?

also, I'm not getting any voltage at the #11 fuse in the e30 fuse box, which is supposedly the fuel pump fuse (according to the bentley). should i have power here first before it goes to the relay?

                thanks

anybody have any info on this?

voltage at the relay. no voltage at the fuse. obviously no voltage at the pump.

have you ever plugged the battery in backwards, or jumped the car with the wrong polarity?

no. i had to jump it a couple times with the diesel truck when the battery went dead. would that have changed anything? ive since changed the battery...

There's a fusible link inline with a small power wire that accompanies the large power wire all the way from the back of the car. If this gets toasted, I believe it will cut power to the fuel pump relay.

Did you jump the fuel pump relay to see if it turns on like Mossman suggested?

I tried jumping the fuel pump relay, but I'm not sure if i was doing it correctly. According to the bently, the wire i was jumping were two hot wires when the key was on. I wasn't sure if the e30 and e36 relay socket was the same. obviously the wiring is from an e36 and that's where the relay is.

i've also been trying to search what the wiring adapter layout is. I've got a treehouse wiring adapter that i told him specifically was for a 90 e30 with obd1 m52. I just figured i would double check to make sure the connections and locations were correct.

Your problem sounds very much like mine. However there are some differences in year car and engine model. Take a look at my thread from about a month ago:

My problem was the injectors (All 6 of them). They received signal from the DME, but no fuel squirted. I have come to assume they were clogged because the engine sat for 2 years not running. I bought 6 off ebay and put them in my M50 and it started. Simple fix. Though not a simple diagnosis. It took time.
