    r3v limit?

So, my friend was revving the car so I can hear my brand new exhaust setup (which is tits btw).. Anyway, I noticed he revved it once and the rpms went past 7k. Does the obd1 s52 motor swap delete the rev limiter? or could I have a chip? or did I eff something up... it's prob the last one..

I'm thinking of popping open my ecu and checking real quick, but wanted to post here to see if anybody had ideas b4 i crack this bitch open.

With one of my turner chips, redline is at 7200. Also, your tach isnt 100% accurate.

yeah, i knew it wasn't going to be 100% accurate, but shit.. i really don't think there is a rev limiter. I'm going to go take apart my ECU now.

Did you put a 6 cylinder coding chip in the cluster?

            eek, no. elaborate?

and the ecu is not chipped. I'm guessing the gauge cluster is just that far off?

The car started as a 325i with the m20 right? Is the cluster original? Or did you put in an e30 m3 one?

                  OT:

What would I have to do, if say I did swap to an M3 cluster?

Same thing? Swap cluster plug to an inline 6 one and I'd be golden?

I can't imagine it being easy

The swap car is a 91 318is, do I need to do any type of modification to the cluster?

If you are using a m42 cluster, you just need a coding plug from a 325i m20 car.

If you are using an m3 cluster, you have to adjust the voltage so that it will read properly, and I think it was Dougic that was making the voltage converters. I may be wrong on who it is. Was a limited run too.

Yeah, my shit is definitely off. I am still scared of revving to high cause i have no idea what the deal is but it's revving all the way to mid of my mpg gauge. soo uh.. where can I buy a e30/m20 coding plug?

Wasn't that R3V Engineers tach converter box? Or is this something else?
