thanks for responding. its nice to discuss in depth stuff with experienced others.

what throw out bearing did you use?
I didn't touch the throw out bearing, as it was replaced less than a year ago along with the clutch and pressure plate.

I have a couple of hoses that I have no clue where they go. According to this:

they are going to the thermostat.

      I'm talking about hoses 13 & 14.

I dont quite understand how they would attach to the thermostat like that... It could be that I just cant see/feel because of wierd angles... but I really dont see anything that looks remotly similar to what I need to attach the other end of the hoses to.

One is attached at the front of the head and the other on the bottom of the throttle body like the diagram shoes. Any suggestions?

Also- When connecting my starter, should I use the e34 wire, or the e30 wires coming from the fuse box? Seems like i read something about one of the wires being attached the the ignition, but I'm not sure. Any certain way to attach them?

      Thanks

I dont have that either. I have #5 going from the head to the bottom inlet for the heater core and 6 goes out of the upper inlet, one into the TB, then one from the TB to the head (looks closest to 14). Fat one goes to meet a fitting that boosts it up to the size of the hose for the resevior and into the resevior. Then the one going back into the tstat, its the only one going into the tstat.

I dont have whatever that little rear part of the tstat is supposed to be.
        Im now E30less.

Hoses 13 and 14 connect to the TB, which you really don't need, along with 10. Those are for the throttle body heater, so unless you live somewhere where it gets really cold, I wouldn't bother.
Plus part 10 plugs into the stock airbox, which I never seen used with this swap, not that I hasn't been done.
If you don't care about the TB heater, just run 9 to 15 (the nipple on the head, next to the temp sensors). If you do this, you won't need 10 - 14 and run small tubing to the 2 extra nipples on the bottom of the TB to keep dust, dirt, etc out.

I just got the wiring harness done... everything seems to work as far as electronics go. The starter turns, and it sounds like its turning the crankshaft and everthing (its making a garlgling noise like maybe its trying to pump water, or it might be the pistons moving [there is only an exhaust manifold on the engine at this point] so it kinda sounds like its trying to start) but its not coming close. I havent attached an o2 sensor, i dont know if that would cause any problems? The tachometer is moving when i try to start.... I donno, i'm just lost and frazzled. Any help is greatly appreciated.

            Thanks,

You don't need an o2 sensor to run the car, I ran mine for 2 weeks without one. Are you sure you have the wires needed for the car to start correct?

Green wire #7 on the E30 connects to the Green one on the E36 side
Black Yellow on both sides connect
Fuel pump can vary but is usually #13 on E30 and on my S50B30 it´s Green/Violet
rest is coolant temp gauge and stuff like that
Just follow that and the car should start, so long as everything is hooked up correctly.
Check the colors of the wires and make sure that they are correct, also.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Check your fuel lines and make sure they are not backwards, and listen for the fuel pump.

Fuel starvation is one of the problems. I disconnected the fuel filter and everything and when i try to start the car, no fuel is leaking on the ground... I have the wires in the harness right. Are there any hidden fuses or anything for the fuel pump? Fuse 11 is in tact which controls the fuel pumps, all of them are in tact for that matter. Isn't it kind of strange that my fuel pump would just go out with out me driving the car for 4 months?

Check the Fuel Pump Relay, It has the green and purple wire going to it.

So what does the fuel sending unit do?

Anyways, I am getting power to the pump and the sending unit(s), so i'm assuming my pump is out... i'll make a call to patrick tomorrow. I'm glad I waited on that oxygen sensor :).

Thanks for your guy's help as always

What ECU do you have; it may be an EWS issue as well

red 403 or 413... i cant remember and its freezing ass cold outside. It came from a 1993 i believe, so it shouldnt be an issue.

Well, if your motor is a 92 non vanos then your ecu should be a 403, 93+ needs a 413 red label ecu.

So the motor turns over, but doesn't fire? Your 100% sure your fuel lines aren't backwards and your wiring is correct?

its a 93 with vanos. I used an ohm meter to see if i was getting voltage to my fuel pump... I am and I tripple checked my harness. Its a 413 ecu. I disconnected the line from the filter to see if any gas would come out on the ground when i tried to start it. No such luck. I'm almost 100% positive a new pump will get her running. MY FINGERS ARE CROSSED!!!! :!:
