just pull the cams/trays/lifters and have them hot tank the head...not a solvent tank but a hot tank

    hot tank= hot sopy water
solvent tank= solvent that can eat valve stem seals

btw why remove the head? that motor already had a re-built head on that look super clean

did u have to modify it in any way im think of going with a some sort of lightened fly wheel set up

Nope, just used the e36 starter, e36 clutch/flywheel/pp and the 260 pilot bearing/throwout bearing/slave cylinder.

Keep in mind I'm using the 260 trans as well.

Danny said something tonight about not being able to use the early-style shift carrier (sheet metal console), I would have to use the aluminum arm, can anyone verify?

I used a UUC E36 M3 aluminum flywheel and an E34 M5 clutch kit. Love it.

Also, I used the aluminum shifter carrier. Not sure if you have to though. However, I have heard that before.

I'm getting ready to do a m52 swap in my 85 318i. the car is a 5spd, my question is am I able to bolt up a 6sp to the m52? If I can, what would be a good flywheel/clutch setup for it?

You can but Its a janky pain in the ass.
Just use the e30 m3 piece.

Oh ok. I'll go that rout cus I did more research and it's going to be more of a pain in the ass converting it. Somebody on here said the 318i tranny will bolt up but not recommend to do it cus that tranny won't put up with the power fore very long. He suggested getting a getrag 260, so I'm going to try and get my hands on one of those.

I have a question that I need to get answered asap before I spend a bunch of money I don't need to spend.

I'm going to order this Reinz gasket kit, and I need to know if it includes the following:

Valve cover bolt seals (little ones under each valve cover bolt, there's 14 or 15)
                          Thermostat/thermostat housing gaskets
                          Throttle body gasket
                          Water pump gasket

                          Comment

The kit should say what it comes with. But generally when it's a top end kit it should come with every gasket you will need to do a head gasket job. If it's a complete engine gasket kit, same thing, it should come with every seal you will need for the engine in order to rebuild it. As long as it's not a cheap one, cus they usually don't have all the seals.

Sorry I didn't even see the link till now. It looks like the kit has the little valve cover bolt seals. Doesn't look like it has the throttle body gasket though. Victor Reinz kits are very nice sets

Looks like this kit does have it, but if those 12 little round ones are the valve cover bolt seals, there aren't enough of them.
