ZF transmission with a broken tab...

Anybody have the mounting tab for the transmission mount break? I received a transmission with a broken tab, could someone be able to weld a new one up there? Has anyone had this done before without the tab?
I got a fender roller now! LMK if you need me to roll your fenders or want to rent the tool from me locally.

This is pretty common. I've had mounting tabs rewelded on a couple of trannys. As long as the welder knows what they are doing, it is an easy repair.

Lemme guess...UPS strikes again? They broke one of mine then denied the claim. A good welder should be able to build it up, I'm told that ZF used high grade aluminum to cast their trans bodies and they take to welding well. Just be careful when it finished, it will never be quite as strong as before the damage.

Easy fix, just ask around and find a good welder. Most automotive machine shops know one, or have one in-house.

Actually, 2 pieces of metal that are welded together properly are stronger than the original piece. The trick is doing it right.

Yea, like hugh said, a strong weld won't break. The metal surrounding the weld should break before the weld even comes close.

Word, see this at work all the time. Ive also seen them used broken at the race track where/when it cant easily be welded.

So even if I don't have the broken tab, a good welder can weld a tab on for me anyways... Nice..

BTW, it was UPS, but I don't see the tab so I don't know if it was UPS or the seller :(
