i 'm also running the porsche 944 booster on my e30m3/s52 obd1 conversion and it fits in there perfectly and yes,the stock m/c bolts up to it too.

    944 booster ftw!

Pulled the exhaust side spacer, still touching but barely. Put the exhaust spacer onto the intake side, now have 3/8" clearance. All 5 gears engage, nothing looks straned or crooked, tranny mounts are pretty relaxed looking... fuck it, done. Just hope the exhaust shop can make it happen now with no BS.

I guess I would rather file a little off my manifold than sacrifice my braking...

Agreed. I haven't lost any pedal feel or braking force with the IX booster and e34 mc I got from you. Its very nice

Is the diameter of the 944 booster small enough so you don't have shave down the fins on the intake manifold?

im using a 944 booster right now, but ive hit a stump. the shaft is slightly longer, and i cut off about a 1/2 inch off the threaded part and i put the e30 u shaped connector on, but its still about an inch too long. the threads through the firewall barely touch. thought this was a simple swap? everything else works fine on it, i just cant get it bolted up correctly

I don't think anyone said pedal effort would increase with the IX booster. It's a double diaphragm.

With the 944 booster, I believe you can get away without shaving the fins.

I retrofitted my 944 booster with the use of a welder. Took a bit of cutting, sectioning and welding, but nothing extreme.

Mine's rubbed and been daily driving now for 4 months so its all good. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't even think we shaved the fins on this manifold, the part of the booster that sticks up goes between the fins so it doesn't rub it just slides between so I just said screw it.

Yes, but the engine should be able to move freely, and be isolated from the body.
With the contact point at the booster, there's alot of vibration. In the brake pedal, and in the whole car.
It's half assed if you ask me, but maybe mine was rubbing alot more than your's.

i'd like to know how the hell everyone is acutually mounting the IX booster to the firewall.

everyone just seems to say oh yeh its works but right now for its not quite working...

does anyone have any pics of HOW they mounted it?

It's a straight swap. You didn't get yours raw did you, without the spacer (ie just the booster with 2 bolts in the back)?

just two bolts in the back...is there some sort of adapter??

i'm practically ready to purchase the freakin treehouse booster for $200.

i couldn't freakin figure out why this bloody thing wouldn't work since everyone is saying oh yeh straight swap...haha bullshit for me.

anyone have a p/n for the piece?

just post a WTB thread. theres an adapter that bolts onto the booster, then has 4 bolts to go though the firewall. i mounted mine straight to the firewall though, to get better clearance. however, if you mount it without the adapter, you will need to shorten the push rod (like the e21 booster), and notch out 2 of the holes on the firewall to make it fit...
