    27mpg!

I've run my first tank of gas thru my swap car; 27 mpg! It's so good I think there must be something wrong.

S52 only has about 400 miles on it, 3.46lsd. 60/40 split between hiway/city driving, much of it with the AC on. The car isn't a DD so I dont have to worry about efficiency, but I hope this isn't a fluke regardless.

    Nice

I think it all depends how much you open it up. My friend with a C6 Z06 gets 35mpg on the highway - a 7L engine eating 7L ever 100 kms... it can be done when you have that much torque, a flexible engine, a huge overdrive gear and 3200lbs to haul.

Your car probably weighs like 2600 - so if you stay out of the right pedal, 3.2 or not, I don't see why you can't get that consistently.

I "can" get that mileage in my swap car, my right foot just wont allow me to.

OP: by the way, are you using a 3.46 with and e36 ZF? If so what are your rpms like in 5th at around 75-80? I really want to switch my 3.25 for the 3.46, will it be a decent difference in torque, or not worth my time?

My exhaust is friggin glorious! I have an eBay header, this cat-pipe...

and a stromung cat-back. It sounds great.

Yes, 3.46 and the E36 ZF. Engine turns about 3500ish at 75-80 IIRC. 3000rpm is less than 70mph.

I know my OBC tells time and can report a reasonably accurate temperature. After that, it's all just a shot in the dark. I must admit that I haven't taken the time to try and figure that thing out.

27 is pretty good for an s52. I get 30-32 on the highway with my m50/chip/93 octane/e30 trans and 3.73lsd.

Seconded to those damn vette's getting crazy good mileage on the highway, torque helps so much, but its kinda like the 335i 300 ft lbs at 1400-5000 the curve is as straight as an arrow.

Yup, here's his dyno graph, check out that torque curve (lingenfelter 650 package, cam/intake/exhaust):

Looks like that car would make more power at 1500rpm's then mine does at peak :(
