    First drive

Finally buttoned everything up, all that's left is to wire the spal (know what to do, just looking for the harness off someones aux fan, wish I kept mine but I didn't know what to do back then) and do exhaust, which is scheduled for next tuesday. Wanted to take it out for the first time to see if it would blow up or barf up all bodily fluids or what...

I know tastes are not to be discussed but I fuckin love this little red brick. Other than the iS airdam I have painted and ready, I'm not changing a damn thing on this car, and that includes the diving boards.

Man, my neighborhood is all rich waspy fucks, I must have pissed off half a dozen of them, got so many stink eyes. I of course had to go for a second pass after I saw their reactions (not on video)... you can also hear a dog going fuck nuts after I shut it off.

As I was pulling out first time I noticed a cop and backed in to go check that he isn't hiding, waiting for me. Cops in this area have a hard-on for modified cars (let alone those unplated, uninsured and making enough noise to wake the dead).

Left the hood open to be able to see any smoke quicker. My first thought was to leave it open but then I realized there was something fundamentally wrong with that...

I so happy. Engine runs very smoothly, it's so nice to drive a tight transmission, steering rack etc. With the 3 turn rack I could see this being an autox king if I were so inclined. It's the first time I tried moving the car with the PS hooked up and it's lighter than the stock E30 was and 30% faster, it feels like a complete dream. The double chamber booster and 25mm master makes the brakes feel WONDERFUL as well! Very stiff, very strong.

    EDIT: fuck r3v doesn't allow embedding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogGVCSyiiWk

LOL thanks guys! I still haven't figured out where the fucken wiring/piping off the hood goes, seems like it should be beside the headlight/fender but there's no place for the stupid ground... bah welcome to a year ago when I should have taken a picture.

Thanks Curt, yeah gonna go transfer ownership and get a temp plate tomorrow (still in my name from Vancouver) so I can do the exhaust on Tuesday. Hope I don't get in shit for driving there. I found an amazing shop just like 3-5 min drive away:

Thanks dude, sorry missed the question earlier. Um, it's not really in any one place, although I eventually plan to put together a comprehensive write up (when I put some miles on it and do a track day - when I'm really sure I know what I'm talking about and won't cause anyone else's to blow up). It's all in bits and pieces, you can get most of it by searching for my posts in this forum (24v). If you have any questions send me a PM.

            Basic outline:
            OBDI S52
            ZF
            3.25 E28 diff
            E28 engine mounts
            E21 tranny mounts
735 booster/master assy (booster same as iX or E34 M5, master same as E34 M5)
            E30 325i rad
            spal 2380 CFM pusher fan
            E30 M3 cluster

That's fundamentally it I guess, everything else is just shit to make the above work... hah (a list about 20x as long).

Soon! A word from personal experience, don't let up! I fired up the motor for the first time back in the winter. And it's taken me until now to get it done. I've done all the finishing work in the past 2 weeks when I signed up for a track school in August. Until then I'd be walking past the car thinking meh, it's done, just need to do this this and that.. and never actually getting around to it.

I have no idea how to respond to that so I take a small bow...

Nah I want to take it easy. Once the exhaust is done I'll incrementally add power to a point. The clutch needs 1k to break-in.
