The engines should be identical in terms of preparation. In terms of engine health, I'd say it's a crapshoot. An auto owner might be someone who changes oil every 15K. A manual owner might be a teenager. Or, the engine might be well maintained!

Forgot to ask, other than the wiring harness there is no other difference between the auto vs. 5spd m50 correct? Maybe i'll ask them to include a flywheel since they did ask if it matters to me if it's an auto or 5spd.

I am thinking one from an auto might be "healthier" but one from a 5spd car might be "easier" to prep/install or the same?

I just don't want to regret something once I pick it up I guess.

F%$!, no maf and ps pump either... and it's from an automatic grrr. Paid the deposit on it today, and going back to pick it up tomorrow with a truck. It's got a 6 month warranty though, so once I do a tear down for clean up if there are any problems they can replace it.

started a topic Picking it up tomorrow

    Picking it up tomorrow

Finally, bought an e36 95 m50 with 86k miles. Needs alternator, starter, oil pan and ecu. Found the alternator, starter already and going to try and make a deal with the seller to swap the oil pan from another m50 for extra $

ECU will come last, as I first want to get all the gaskets and hoses replaced and just clean everything up.

Wish me luck, I bid on it but haven't seen it yet. Good thing it's local though.
