    It runs but won't stop!!

Man I was excited today when I finally got my m50 swap started! But now I have run into the issue that it doesn't shut off when I turn the key off. Anybody have any ideas?

car year/model? definetly a wiring problem. check ETM where ignition goes to the ECU, maybe it thinks its always on the "ON" position and your ignition cylinder is only cranking the starter. check your ETM for 'dme power from ignition switch' (C101 pin 7 on my car -> X20 pin 21)
    No more e30s for me.

84 325e > 92 nv m50. Man I hate wiring, it took me a week straight every night reading diagrams to get this far lol. I will have to take a few mins and look and see what i have. At least the fuel pump turns off when I turn the key off, but the dash lights stay on.... I HATE WIRING lol.

I know your not erick lol. I was just saying ko hasn't gotten my money back to me yet for canceling my order. I need that money so I can buy more parts lol. I was interested in your exhaust but it doesn't seem like I am ever going to be able to save up enough money with this economy .

What exactly do you mean about doing the fuesbox? I haven't had to do anything to the fuesbox?! PM me and maybe I can help ya a lil more.

Try a different main relay? I'd say it's either that or ignition switch. There shouldn't be anything beyond that - regardless of how you may have screwed up wiring, if you cut the power (ignition off, main relay goes off) then nothing else matters...

let me guess, you borrowed someone else's wiring diagram for an 87+ car.

EDIT: my bad. just read you did check the wiring diagrams.

your car wiring (85e) uses a different style start signal disconnect for the k5/k7 relays. if you look at the older "e" starters, it has two wires. if you look at the e36 and 87+ e30, they have three wires. the trigger wire (i think blk / green) for the k5/k7 is not present in your car. grab an etm (wiring diagrams) for both cars and start taking notes on the differences.

                        cheers, jason

Doesn't the 84e have a square C101? I don't think I've seen anyone's pinout for a 19 pin C101. I'm sure he looked at an ETM, because DME power is routed through pin 10 on rectangular C101 cars, as opposed to pin 7 on round C101 cars.

What would be helpful is if you posted up how you wired the C101 up.

Wiring for c101 is as follows:

                              E30-E36
                              1-25
                              2-?
                              4-12
                              6-13
                              7-13
                              8-18
                              10-21
                              16-23

I did a couple quick checks with the main relay. Bare with me as it is easy to confuse here-
Car not running. Key on, power to all but the 1 ground wire. Key off, power to the two solid red only.

Car running. Key on, power to all but the one ground wire. Key off, power to all but the one ground wire.(this is where the problem lies i believe.)

I did notice when you use a jumper wire from the ground on the relay to a body ground with the key on, the relay clicks, is this normal?

                              Thanks for the help!!
