    M52 crankshaft

I see MM saying that 2.8 crank is forged, and then I see that m52 has lower red line.

Can some one tell me whether that crank is forged or cast?

I would like pics of the forge marks, TIA

Heavier rotating assembly. But once you chip the m52, it gives it the same redline as the m50 when chipped.

Sorry to answer the other statement your making, and btw just talked w/ a friend who has had both, and the redline is the same... 6500rpm. Search for for sale ads and you'll find pics I'm sure.

                    what?

the M20 has a ~6400rpm redline. M50/M52 is like 6500. where are you getting 5300rpm? that's like an eta with a chip.

Well, the e30 is god's chariot, so you never know how the bmw motors are made:)

Their there, I'll look at the m50 crank I've got at home to find where they are.

I'm positive they are, but I don't have pics of the markings.

                            False.

I would rev the 2.8 higher than the M50. They have better lifters and valve springs.
