NO start

I have no spark and the fuel pump wont kick on. Im puzzled I have a 87 325is and an 1992 non vanos e36 harness and m50. I also have a red lable 402 dme. what could i have overlooked

do i have to have the tach hooked up I havent doen that yet i wanna get it fired tonight so the exauhst shop can mone it around tomarrow, ive checked my grounds. when i put a test light to the fuel pump relay on the smaller green andbrown wire I hear the relay click thats it. my motor had no coil grrounds on it when i pulled it out of the car

Do you have the fuel pump relay wired up correctly?

I think i have a ground issue someplace. IF i ground out the brown and green wire on the relay it runs the pump. But I still get no spark. I havent messed with the relay.

my cps should be good its reading 537ohms

are the coils grounded now?

Yes they are. It still has no spark or fuel. The dme Isnt grounding the relay out on the fuel pump or the o2 relay. Im pretty sure that the computer has power if the coils are powered up and so do the injectors but how do I make one 100% sure. Im lost. Any help would be great. I know alot of people have had similar problems but theys not many say how they fixed it.

The brown wires on the diagnostic side of the e36 harnes are ground right I have 2 of them crimped together and 1 red one I deleated the e36 starter wires.

do you have the ecu bolted in the stock location??
or is it just sitting in there??
Maybe you dont have enough ground to the ecu??

I made my own braket to mount it the stock location.

hmm I am having the exact same problem as you right down to the computer I know it works because I try it out on my friends 525i today and also the same with the maf have you checked to make sure the cps is plugged into the right pug on the harness?
I think* the wire colors are pin 1 yellow pin 2 black/ brown pin 3 black... not sure though

No i havent checked the DME yet thats on my list to do I am gonna start calling around to find a place to get it checked. IT was suposed to be good all my stuff came out of the same car a rolled 92 325i. ILL think the cps should be right I havent messed with it only to check the ohms. Didnt pull my harness. Is there anyone in the sacramento or elk grove area with a non vanos motor that could help me out.Tell me what you would want to come out and look at my swap to see if im on the right track or test my computer or what ever ill pay for your gas and beer or cash or what ever you want. this was my daily driver i want to get it going again.
