well it seemed like the stock e36 muffler was the culprit. i got 2 2" 27" long glasspacks to put in the mid section, they cut a lot of the rasp, once i cut the e36 muffler off almost all the rasp went away aside from higher RPM's.

A borla oval XR1 single 2.5 inlet single 2.5 outlet is on its way along with a Y pipe. should nice.

so the exhaust is now going to be, 2" piping from the headers back, dual 27" glasspacks, Y pipe dual 2" to single 2.5 Borla xr1 2.5 inlet 2.5 outlet, then another 2.5 to dual 2" Y pipe at the back of the rear valence with some tips to keep it stock lookin

check my pm. that soundslike a lot of shit to have under your car. who is building it? you also need to consider mounting points and mounting/unmounting. also, glasspacks can suck my big black
          No more e30s for me.

Borla XR1s sound amazing, but it was too loud with my 3". Will be switching back when I get the ebay headers and 2.5 in a couple of months. :D

And like etxxz said, it sounds like you have too much goin on there. I'd say do and X pipe from the headers, continue the dual 2", run 2 smaller glasspacks as resonators, and finish with a nice borla/ magnaflow dual in to single/ dual out muffler. An X pipe would really clean the exhaust up.

Check out this link, Vibrant mufflers are my favorite, they sound amazing!

A sound clip of my exhaust, I use the Street Power turbo series muffler. :pimp:

ahhh fuck it i think im just guna do single 2.5 all the way back...

perhaps like this.....my ebay headers- dual 2" in to 2.5 out Y pipe, small flex pipe, 2.5 high flow cat, 2.5 resonator (what brand should i go with?? all i see are the gay hushpower's on summit) then my borla xr1 2.5 in and out to a Y pipe with tips.

Yea i know the glasspacks are gay, they were kind of a last ditch effort to get rid of the rasp before i tear this whole exhaust setup off. anything bearing the THRUSH name should not be on a BMW

etxxz im building it, theres a shop down the street that does nice exhaust work, there guna be welding it together. im fuckin sick of welding under cars on jackstands in my garage

i dont understand if youre running cats or not? but the stock midpipes with any cat back on it sounds fine with little rasp.

When I was still in college, I used to say "when I'm finished with school, I'm buying an NSX." At the time, my DD was my first E30. Many (expensive) cars later, I'm back in an E30 and very happy about it. At least your head is already in the right place!
