where to start, exhaust sounds bad, HELP

I posted a little lower about my ebay headers having a rattle. The sound sounds like it is coming from there but I assume the sound could be coming from anywhere and resonating through the exhaust system.

I have listened at the back of the car and I can here the rasp/rattle as well there. So I am unsure what the problem is. The guy at the exhuast shop thinks it is the header. So I have thought about removing the header and going with stock exhuast manifolds. But so many people run those headers and I can't see that being the issue.

So I am wondering where to start. I am thinking I should replace what is cheap (in my setup) first before pulling the headers. So then at least I have better stuff even if I do pull the header and go stock.

This is what I have. Where should I start?

    ebay headers,
    2 2" pipe about 15" back
    magnaflow Y
    a small resonator (5" x 8" - from a m42 car)
back through 2.25" pipe to a dynomax super turbo

The Y goes to 2.5" with a flange and then drops to 2.25 for the resonator and super turbo.

I am thinking of starting with replacing the super turbo or maybe the resonator as well.

Or getting rid of the Y and going with 2 resonators and through a dual in dual out muffler.

At this point I am almost embarrassed to drive the car (or at least to push it at all) because it sounds like a chainsaw/2 stroke dirt bike.

What works well? If anyone has brands and model numbers as well.

Your choking the exhaust with the single 2.25. Get a 2.5 resonator, to a 2.5 muffler and it'll sound way better.

Yeah I have been searching and reading and seeing most people are running 2.5" Could that restriction be then making noise back in the header? That would also explain why it only happens when I punch it rather than very light load.

Do you have any suggestions for a good muffler and resonator to run?
How big of a resonator? What type of muffler.

The dual 2" to a Y then 2.5" single should be fine right?

thanks btw...this is driving me crazy

Is there shit in your exhaust somewhere? Sounds like you dropped a bolt or something down the manifold.

No I don't think there is anything in the exhuast. Can't see how anything would get in the header. It came out of the box and went on the engine.... If there was something in there is would have blown in out when i started with an open header anyway.
