    Chip

I just got a chip from Bimmerworld (turner motorsports chip) for my 95 S50 conversion. The directions state that even thougth this chip has EWS delete it is not to be used in a car with an engine conversion. Whats the deal with that? I told the sales rep at Bimmerworld it was for an E30 with an S50?

Can someone with some experience chime in here and explain to me why this won't work?

Not sure I can help you but I had a similar experience with them.

When I ordered my Shrick, MAF, Injector kit from them, I was told by the salesman that it wouldn't work in my e30/s50.

I asked questions until he began to get impatient with me. It made no sense to me why it wouldn't work so I ordered the kit anyway (comes with a new chip of course).

    Car runs just fine.

Are you using a silver label ECU? Also, wasn't EWS only with s52's?

Yes I am using a silver 413......I think it will work. It's just frustrating that I specified all the info and then in the directions it clearly states that it will not work in a converted car because you need the EWS computer as well as the key, cylinder and DME from the original car? I know I read somewhere that there is a green wire that needs to be cut if you don't have the EWS computer or module or whatever it is. Hopefully someone can clarify?

A lot of times I get the impression that BW and Turner don't really know anything about e30 swaps.

Yeah Matt, I would agree with that. I originally wanted to buy a chip from you. On your website I could only find EWS delete with factory set up no mods :(

The chip seems to be better than what I had before
(I have fuel pump now)???? I still have no injector pulse though, any ideas???

            Can you return it?

I was about to say, almost everyone there has experience with it, and I thought the parts guy has a forced induction M/S50. They have the experience.

I am sorry you got this impression, you have obviously be mislead somehow and I apologize for that. You need to give us a call so we can get you up to speed on what we actually do here, Matt. I did an S52 swap in my E30 M3 nine years ago (Euro HFM, M50 Manifold, injectors, cams, and software to run it all correctly.) We have been doing swaps well before that and many times since.

Click here for our latest E30 Conversion.

We have chips specifically to tackle some of the E30 swaps hurdles. Including EWS delete, Speed Sensor delete and more.

Regarding the question posted by the OP, It sounds like you got the wrong instructions. If you got a chip with a part number "4131-34xx", you can still use those instructions but just skip that paragraph. Those instructions are technically correct – you can't use a EWS computer in a car that doesn't have EWS (w/o the correct chip.) This is what plagued so many E30 M50 conversions for years.

So, you guys put the EWS module and key from the original car in all the cars you swap?

Here's another little one that seems to come up all the time: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=108151

I'm not trying to start anything, obviously your e30 swap mojo is strong. But it sounds like you guys need to have the people who've done the swaps manning the phones or writing the instructions or whatever.

Rob, sorry I dragged BW into this. Truthfully, I've never had an issue with anything from you guys. I'll apologize in person if you'll be at Road Atl next weekend. I'll be carting Seth Thomas around the track in a red e36.

No. I think you are still a bit confused.
We use either non-ews ECU's or EWS silver label ECU's with our EWS delete chips. Again, we have chips to disable EWS in silver label ECU's, perfect when doing an E30 S50/S52/M50/M52 swaps when using Bosch management.

Who have you spoken to when you called? Basically there are two of us here that answer the phones. Me (the one that has done this very swap) and Drew, the guy that makes all the chips and runs the software support line. I think you may have us mistaken for another company?

Here are some tech articles on the subject that Drew has written. Hopefully it clears up some questions for you guys.

                        Thanks,

Yes! Please address this in a new thread. No one here has been able to get this to work properly. And please respond with something more helpful than 'it has worked on all the cars we've used it on'. Thanks.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Okay, I will speak to Dave in the R&D shop and get you some wiring specifics to show how we have done it.

Dudeman said the instructions for his chip said you need all the EWS crap for motor conversions. I guess he got the wrong instructions, that happens.

Like I said, I don't want to get into it with you. My impression is my impression, and it's probably clouded by the fact that I sell software that competes with yours.
