    Hum I guese you can give that a shot, never heard that before. But robert to do that, Just unplug that white c104 plug by the ecu(3-pin plug you wired up), and disconnect the Black/Green wire from the starter(leave the black/yellow). My guese is if the immobilization functions don't work with each other, then just unplugging the c104 plug would do the trick(at least for the time being, your tach and fuel econ gauge won't work) but for now we just need to get your engine started.

    i just looked over your x20/c101 adapter. pull e36 x20 p7. (e30/e36 immobilization does not work well together.) pull e36 x20 p15. (different "start" issue you might deal with later.)

    Just out of curiousity how / where does everyone else have their engines grounded?

    I'm currently using mt M20 ground wire connected to the driver side engine mount to the chasis. Should that be ok?

    Hum I'm not sure what is up robert, I checked 3 manuals and they all say the sensor should be around 1000 ohms. I checked the m50 sensor i have for Wes's s52 and it also reads 520ohms, but I don't know for sure if it's good or not as his engine isn't finished yet.

    Last time robert checked he is not getting power at the fuel pump fuse, and the pumps only turn on when he manual ground the relay to kick it on. So the ECU itself is not sending the ground to trigger the relay, which leads me to believe that it's not reading the crank sensor.

    you are correct fred. for the e36's, the fuel pump SHOULD get a 2 second jolt when the key is turned to "on". (and of course when in "start." ) just put a diode test light on fuse #11 to see if the fuel pump is getting power. when are you getting power to fuse #11?

    530 ohms is common. ive tested dozens of sensors and have NEVER seen a cps with over 580 ohms......the bentley must be a misprint, 1280 is incorrect.

    plug in your o2 sensor.

    check your fuel lines. ive switched them around a few times. fuel filter line goes to the front of the fuel rail. the return is back side. pull the fuel lines off. does the supply line still have pressure? i did have an m50tu that did NOT have the factory fuel pressure regulator on the back of the fuel rail. (it was all the way back by the fuel tank. )

    Yes, pin 65 is empty.

    I have a friend who is going to the parts store this morning to test a new CPS to see if it reads 540 ohms or 1280 ohms.

    :oops: Yes. I just checked a few minutes ago. The ICV initially adjusting itself is a fairly loud buzz.

    well this switch that is shown in the diagram just effects power to the ECU, but we confirmed on Robert's harness that there isn't a pin for it.

    Ok, here's what we got today.

    - Power to the Fuel Injectors is good.
    - Verified No Spark (pulled coil pack - inserted spark plug and cranked engine)
    - Verified voltage at the TPS when car is switched on
    - Old CPS read 515 ohms - I had an extra from another M50 parts engine that reads 520 ohms so I swapped it in but still no love.

    Now JGood says 540 ohms for the CPS but Ely says the Bentley manual says 1280 ohms. I'm picking up a brand new CPS tomorrow to see if it works but I have a feeling it won't.

    Is there anything related to the reverse wires on the engine harness that might cause this thing not to fire up? Right now the only connectors on the wire harness not connected to anything is the reverse switch connector and the O2 sensor connector.

    At this point I'm willing to take bids for someone to come help me get this thing running.
