A recess to run the wire for the sender, or at least some method to secure it out of the way would have been a nice touch. Having said that, I'm getting one for my M52.

You either have to secure the wire to the sender and then screw it in by slipping some pliers up in the recess, or you have to screw the sender in and the try to wiggle the wire and clip up to secure it to the sender. I have it on my car and honestly I'm thinking of removing it. There is simply not enough room to torque the sender down properly and connect the wire to the sender in the narrow recess. Its not a good design.

I'm in the weird position that I have an oil temp sender but not the e30 water temp sender. The M54 already has the oil pressure sender behind the oil filter.

So, which is more important, having oil temp or water temp? Could I have oil temp without water temp?

The 413 wants a water temp signal.

                      The MS43 wants both...

Use water temp. More useful to tell you if you have an overheating or coolant loss situation. Or work out a switch to use both... that would be cool.
