Turner obd1 water temp sensor adapter

So I've been eyeing this adapter for a while as this would allow (in theory right?) you to re-use the 4 pin m52 temp sender unit on the head with the e34/e36 harness when converted to obd1 for e30 use.

I've heard and read that it does not work for whatever reasons from the the guys who've tried it. So, I sent email to Turner and was told to speak with Dave in R&D department. I am currently waiting for his call back to let me know under what conditions this adapter works...

OBDI Conversion Part - Water Temp Sensor Wiring Adaptor
    Part #: TEN9989M50
    Applications: 1992 - 2000 (E36 Z3)
The TMS Water Temp Sensor Wiring Adaptor is needed when you are upgrading to OBD-I (1992-1995 components) on a 3.2 or 2.8 liter engine. These earlier engines use two separate water temp sensors in the head, one for the ECU and one for the instrument cluster. Most of the 3.2 and some of the 2.8 liter engines do not have two holes drilled in the head for the early water temp sensors. This is due to the fact that the 3.2 and 2.8 engines used a combined water temp sensor. So we designed a easy to use plug and play wiring harness. The benefits are: No cutting and splicing, no trying to fine plugs and pins. This is also needed if you are doing an E30 3.2 or 2.8 engine conversion using OBD-I electronics. We also suggest using TMS “3.2 in a 3.0” Coolant Hose Adapter P/N: TEN9931007 to make your life easier.

Questions I am hoping to find answers for:

    - does this adapter work with an obd1 e34 and/or e36 engine harness?
    - does this adapter work only in e36/e34 chassis with e34/e36 cluster?
    - what does it take to make it work in an e30 chassis with an e30 cluster and an obd1 converted m52?

Will post more once I know more...

If it doesn't work in E30s they will need to modify their page to not say this - "This is also needed if you are doing an E30 3.2 or 2.8 engine conversion using OBD-I electronics."

Uh no. He's still using an e30 temp gauge, is he not?

Dual temp obdII e36 sender does not work with the e30 temp gauge.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.

Right, so his situation is really no different than people running OBDI. Well except that he will keep the e36 OBDII dual sender, instead of using a e36 OBDI single sender. He still needs to either tap the head for the e30 sender or the far better option of deleting the TB heater system and take a die to the e30 sender.

Turners page has said that forever. i can't believe they haven't gotten enough complaints to modify it.

They have stated this multiple times. I guess we're all just a bunch of tards.
