    The dreaded no start............

    Okay,

So I've read through all the other "dreaded no starts" and I believe mine is a little different. Basic run down, (96, 2.8) M52-OBD1 conversion. First, I've checked and rechecked to make sure that my sensors are correct. Secondly, I switched out my 95 M3 engine harness from a running 93' 325 (too eliminate any EWS issues) and also switched out my 506 DME with a 413.
    Still didn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This past weekend my friend who did the wiring harness and helped me through this whole process (and former THR employee) came over too eliminate some ?????. We ran a compression test and here's the #'s
    1)196
    2)197
    3)155
    4)189
    5)196
    6)200
We also did a fuel test, with impressive end results (50psi), and finally check each spark plug & coil (beautiful blue consistent spark)........still nothing.

The only thing that is left up for grabs is timing. I've ordered two knock sensors, but I know that the sensors don't work on start up. I've changed the vanos, and crank sensor twice.

My car is a 1986 "E" model. Would someone be as kind to share some input. Has anyone else had similar problems. When it cranks over it turns, and turns, and turns with PopPopPPOP sound (real descriptive) but I'm @ the end of my rope and I really need this fucking thing to work. It's been 5 months. I think it's safe to rule out a bad motor, and the problem lies in the electrical system.

In short, help!!! I'm out of ideas. I could post a video if it'd help

    Thanks in advance

Are the injectors opening? You might have fuel pressure but that doesn't mean it is getting into the cylinders. Do the plugs smell like fuel? Are the wet after cranking? What ecu are you running? How long has the engine been sitting? possible stuck injectors? give them all a tap.....

sounds like you have checked most things. I would bet that the injectors are not opening.

I'm running a 413, the plugs smell like fuel. I got the manifold and injectors from the Euro depot. I had to wait a month before I could it, so I'm ASSUMING it wasn't sitting long due to the wait I encountered. When I take the intake off, fuel spits from the top of the injectors. I have a set of "pinks" but I'm not sure if the OBDII injectors would fuck anything up. The engine has been sitting for a 1.5 years. I originally thought it could be the lifters so I took the plugs out and put .5 of a straw's amount of oil down the cylinder.
      it's so frustrating...........

I noticed that too, but for it not to start?? the other 5 cylinders should carry it...

ummm, I'm not sure. How could I determine if it's backwards???

                Thanks,

                I'll look tonight

iirc the feed goes on the opposite side of the fpr, which is slightly unusual

Yeah you would think that the other 5 could. Still something to be aware of though.

I completely understand where everyone is coming from regarding this matter, but for the time being I need it too work. My main focus is getting the damn thing to turn over and run.

I checked the fuel lines and I've got them on correctly. Could someone tell me if their DME acted different when using pink injectors??

is your dme grounded? it's been an issue for some people.

i know you said you checked, but you issue sounds just like when i did an m50 swap. we thought the fuel lines were coorect, and gas was still squirting, but it wouldnt start. switched the fuel lines, and VROOM.

alright, I'll try it for shits and giggles. I also tried grounding the DME, nothing...

You did not mention your coolant temp sensors. Your m52 head has only one hole, and therefore only one temp sensor, which has been covered in other threads.

What did you do about the OBD-1 harness having two coolant temp sensors? I remember having the two switched and the car ran like poo and some times would not start...

I bought the turner adapter. Although, I bought a "blue" temp sensor to directly plug into the head, therefore eliminating the Turner adapter.
