    Engine Ground Wire

So this weekend i'm gonna help a friend w/ megasquirt on an e36. Last thing we don't know is which wire is the engine wire. I checked the dme chart and there's 5 different ones. So I'm wondering which one is the engine ground. Or is it the ground wire that's ontop of the vanos solenoid? Also my friend(JrHaile) wanted me to throw out the question if anyone has any base maps please lemme know.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    what do you mean?

the engine harness has more than one ground. there are probably between 8-12 on the E36. I'd suggest looking up the engine wiring chart and going from there. Or, talk to goathumper on e30tech and try to get one of his Motronic 3.1 adapter boards, and forget wiring it manually.

Yeah, its not the way I'd prefer it, but its one of Urinemachine's boards that was on a turbo e36 that my buddy bought to use on his. Its the way they had theirs, so we're just gonna do the same for his. Jon told my buddy to be sure to attach it to the main engine ground, which I'm guessing is the one that attaches above the vanos solenoid. Yes I know it has more than one ground, that's why i ask if anyone knows what he means. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get ahold of urinemachine so I can ask him, but I've been looking around and I'm pretty sure its the one on the vanos solenoid. Thanks for goathumper, had thought of talkin to him, didn't know he made boards either, I may go search over on there and see what happens...

he probably means to run a ground to the engine ground strap/block. There is no "main engine ground wire".
