    flooded m52

im thinking about snatching a 115k mile m52 out of an e39 for 200 bucks. its been underwater (dont know how much) and all i know is the dude says it starts and runs but makes noise. i asked him valvetrain or rod knock and he doesnt know. he seems honest as when i told him i wanted the alternator too he told me he thought it was junk. id tear it down and go thru it but my gut tells me a 200 dollar motor with no ancillaries isnt a real bargain. thoughts or potential problems??
also, will an e39 pan fit in the e30 ala same as an e34??
this is just the block and head nothing else

Pass, unless you want to do a full 24v rebuild then use in swap. Maybe it's worth it for cores if you want an MM or something. Or mockup, $200 mock up block is worth it.

I'd have to pass as well. I only paid $400 for my M50........and that was a 92k mile motor from intake to oil pan, included the headers, ECU, harness, and 5-speed tranny.

Unless you're desperate for another project, I would keep an eye out for something else

If it is an M52TU that sorta runs... I'll give you $100 for the DME and $50 for the engine wiring harness.
