    m50 woes/questions

I've got a few little issues regarding my m50
    1. Idle, it has a high idle for the first few minutes on cold start-up, it sits around 1.2k before dropping down to 750
    2. I have a vacuum line coming off the front of the block right next to the intake, driver's side that has just been capped off- is that bad idea
    3. I also have a soleniod under the intake boot that has an electrical connector to it and 2 lines going into it, the smaller line is vented to the atmosphere.. never saw a change in idle by capping it
    4. Car has recently developed a lack of power/misfire paired with the temp needle jumping around from time to time, are there any know grounds that could cause this situation concurrently?
    5. Anyway to make a 325i spec 13 button OBC work properly (consumption) with an m50?
    6. I have exhaust issues, I am running the dual cats out of an e36 and they just don't fit underneath the car very well (not enough space), other than reverting to a standard e30/325i system are there any stock/oem parts that can fit (no cheap muffler shops in europe, and it has got to look factory for inspection)
    7. I am running a 324td (same as 325i/us) radiator with a normal fan (fan mounted behind the visco) this is leaving me very little room between my rad/fan and there has been contact already, could it be that one of my NOS m5 mounts are bad or should I delete the fan and put in an electric unit?
    8. Brakes, I am running normal everyday pads on the car (cheap ferrodos) and the car has no bite on braking, new fluid, recent pads etc etc.. should I keep messing with the brake hardware or is the e21 brake booster causing this? I ask because I have the same pads on my cabrio and they work great.
    9. Is the ICV a bitch to reach on an m50?

    and on a side note

JESUS MY OIL PAN IS LOW

    Thanks,
    Julien

    6. pics from side of car to see how low exhaust is. i fit e36 pipes under the car and they barely hang lower than stock m20 bits.
    7. remove the clutch fan and use electric fan on front of radiator. i used the condensor fan (minus the condensor) and it worked fine, with a lower temp thermostat and switch of course.

Do you have a pic of this by any chance?

It is possible, contact hoveringuy, he makes a chip that makes it pretty damn accurate. I am going to purchase it as soon as I have funds!

Can't imagine that you have problems fitting it because I am running E36 all the way to the back.

i would switch to electric just for the sake of not fucking your shit up sice there has already been contact.

its just below the intake manifold, shouldn't be that difficult to reach.

thanks for all the info.. I have 2 round cats under my car from what I beleive is an e36.. and since they can't fit right (width wise) they hang below the car, and I scrape them all the time.

is it the "seam" of the cats that is dragging? i had new cats on mine and one was laid over at a angle so the seam wasnt hanging down, the other was straight up and down so the seam would drag everywhere. i had a exhaust shop cut the cat out, turn it over to a angle and re weld it. no problems after that. like i said pics may help here.

My car is pretty much slammed up front and I live in a neighborhood with enormous speed bumps.. I don't think there is a better way to fit those cats, I'll just revert to a m20b25 exhaust to save me the hassle.

                    4. Car has recently developed a lack of power/misfire paired with the temp needle jumping around from time to time, are there any know grounds that could cause this situation concurrently?

This wouldn't explain the temp needle jumping around, but if you're getting occasional misfiring check your plugs. I started getting the same problem in cold conditions because they were getting fouled due to being worn and unable to maintain spark.
