had a really good day at the junk yard today. among the many treasures that i brought home, i found obc's from a 325(E?), a 528e and a 735i. my question is that i am wondering if anyone has tried the chip from either the 528 or the 735 in their s52 swap? the 735 was, i believe an 86, but i dug parts out of so many bimmers today that i can't remember that to be fact. the engine was an m30 with the 3.2/3.5i intake manifold. i would think that one would be pretty close to the fuel consumption of an s52? i wonder if the obc chip is preprogrammed to the capacity of the fuel tank? i would suppose a 735 holds a shitload more fuel than the 16 and a half gallon tank i plan to run in my car
in the photo below, i discovered that the chip actually tells the series of the car it came from. in the top left corner of the chips in the photos below you can see a 3,5, and 7 respectively. i believe the 3 and the 5 series cars were both eta's. the eight following the series may stand for economy.
