I am wondering if its okay to run a S52 on the stock 413 DME. Its out of a 325i so I dont know if it will be dangerously lean or something along those lines. I dont want to damage my motor but would like to delay the purchase of a chip if I can. Thanks Brian

I dont think it will run right though. I.e. running lean top end I think.Comment

how about a stock 413 on an obd1 m52?
you'll probably have better luck with the stock s50 obd1 ecu (506 i think??)Comment

I don't think there's much difference between the 413 and the 506.
I would use the 413 and an appropriate chip. The extra displacement isn't a big deal because you have larger injectors to match, but the change in the cam is what throws it.Comment

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.Comment

I'm running my M54 on OBD1 and the 413, using a Dinan S50 chip. It runs lean at the top but that's probably because it's kind of a non-standard setup.
Once I verify my fuel pressures are Ok I'll get a TRM M54 OBD1 chip.
The 413 is a good, versatile ECU.Comment
