    S52 on Stock 413 DME

I am wondering if its okay to run a S52 on the stock 413 DME. Its out of a 325i so I dont know if it will be dangerously lean or something along those lines. I dont want to damage my motor but would like to delay the purchase of a chip if I can. Thanks Brian

You can run the 413 if you swap the rest of your motor over to obd1

I dont think it will run right though. I.e. running lean top end I think.

        how about a stock 413 on an obd1 m52?

you'll probably have better luck with the stock s50 obd1 ecu (506 i think??)

          I don't think there's much difference between the 413 and the 506.

I would use the 413 and an appropriate chip. The extra displacement isn't a big deal because you have larger injectors to match, but the change in the cam is what throws it.

Only the chip is different between the 506 and the 413.

Make sure your injectors and MAF match your chip. IE, use 17.5lb injectors if you're running a stock M50 or S50 chip.

It's a dumb idea though. Sorry.

+1. Way to perpetuate the stereotype of r3v members being retardedly cheap. You can spend 2500$ on a motor but cant fork over 250$ for a chip?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

I ran my S52 with a 413 for the past 4-5 months. No long driving periods. It just ran rich because I had the pink top injectors.

But I just got my TRM chip, so no more worries about my frankenstein setup running funky on the 413.

I'm running my M54 on OBD1 and the 413, using a Dinan S50 chip. It runs lean at the top but that's probably because it's kind of a non-standard setup.

Once I verify my fuel pressures are Ok I'll get a TRM M54 OBD1 chip.

The 413 is a good, versatile ECU.

If I had a cat I'd pass emissions... Do they test emissions on pre-96 model year vehicles in Virginia?
