I found one at a salvage yard, apparently has 60,000 miles. The guy wants like $3700 for it.

I would say 3400 max depending on comp test.
O and check the vin. -

i don't have any more info on it but i'm sure i could get the vin. What's the best way to confirm the mileage? It's currently out of the car, the car itself was totalled. (same car that the vaders came from in my other thread.)
i don't have the money for it and my dad is a cheap ass but if anybody is interested in more info on it i could look into it.Comment

On the backside of the cylinder head you will find a VIN plate. Make sure the 3rd character is an "S". Then take the VIN, and run a Carfax on it.Comment

Run the VIN and check the month/year of production. Early S50's like to drop valve retainers.
I'd expect to pay $3200-$3400 depending on how complete it is. Maybe $3500 if it includes the engine harness and dme. And get him to throw in the transmission as the icing on the cake.Comment

PM him
He sold the S52 but the S50 he sold his buddy for his E30 M3 came back to him (buddy scrapped the project due to funding). Hes got the S50 with harness, dme, etc plus ZF tranny available to a retarded price. He just wants his garage space back so he can turbo his E36.
Someone snatch it up. Hes good people and his parts are good and the price is the steal of the year.
