    So I guess it's done...

I took the E30 for a short spin yesterday after being on jackstands for the last 3 1/2 years. Besides the engine dying a couple of times at idle, I was surprised when I made it back without a glitch. I've still got to get the UUC exhaust mounted, but the engine bay is done.

It really shows how much good information there is on this board when my only sources of information were the Bentley and this message board. Thanks to all of those who have helped.

So here are a few photos...

            Looks nice!

Is that an oil pressure sender on your oil filter? What's on your radiator hose? Nice radiator!

The body's somewhat torn apart, at the moment, but rest assured I'll be posting plenty of pics as I finish the rest...it's moving pretty quickly now.

www.ddmtuning.com for $200. I just had to come up with the fasteners. I have some of their CF AC Schnitzer replica splitters on the front of my 540 as well, all very nicely laid CF.

Thanks man. Yes, I'm using the UUC oil center for oil pressure and temperature sensors. Those two gauges and a wideband O2 gauge are now located in a pod that replaced my center A/C vent.

The blue piece in the radiator hose is a port in case I decide to hook up a water temp sensor.

I've got some tweaks to my BMP rear to allow the UUC exhaust to fit through the cutout. Once I get the bumper fit, I'll take it to an exhaust shop to fit it and a minor mod to the midpipes so I can install the O2 sensor.

After that, I guess just paint! I'm still on the fence between a CF hood or stock.

Sweet. Getting a car to roll under its own power, after having been on jackstands for a long time, is truly gratifying.

Good job. 3.5 years is a long time! Did you paint the bay, or just clean it up?

Mostly I cleaned it up. I painted the passenger side a little, but not a professional job by any means. When I paint the car I'll probaby have them do some engine bay painting.

Wouldn't ya know it - I get one rolling this weekend, and today the 540i went in for a new driveshaft. Figures.
