    Wiring woes S50 into 84 325e

I built my adapter for my car using the wiring diagram for my year. I am using the old style connector.

The key will spin the motor, but not turn the fuel pump on. The fuel pump will turn on if I jump the FUEL PUMP wire to B+.

My wiring diagram runs like this using the old style connector w/ wiring for a 84 325e and an S50.

    E30 Side / Engine Side

    Alternator Charge / 1 - 25
    Coolant Temp Sensor / 4 - 12
    Electric Fuel Pump / 7 - 13
    Power Supply with Ignition / 10 - 21
    Oil Pressure / 16 - 23
    Service Indicator Reset / 17 - 19

So the oil pressure works, alternator, and it cranks.

But it will not turn on the fuel pump, and I do not hear the main relay when I turn the key to the on position.

The computer was warm after sitting for an hour while I was diagnosing some stuff.

What do you guys use the power with ignition turned on fuse protection for?

I was able to get the computer to throw a CEL with a Ohm meter but now it doesn't want to do that I and I am afraid.

I have a feeling the computer is dead. I am getting nothing off the CEL wire when I ground it out and start the car.

The injectors are not firing even with the pump having pressure.

Do you have the ground from the motor mount to body? DME has power and ground?

There is one ground out of the pass side of the engine harness hooked up.

Also B+ and computer power (smaller guage) cable are hooked up.

The engine has two grounds. One of the driver, and one on the pass.

Am I missing a ground somewhere to the DME?

there should be 2 power wires to the dme and 1 ground. what ECU are you using with what chip?

              I am using a 95 m3 harness, and 506 DME, stock chip.

I have one power connection on the pass side coming out of the harness, and one ground. Where is the second power wire for the ECU? Does the ECU case have to be grounded to chassis by case to metal?

I had the same problem, there is 2 power wires, one from the starter and one from the relays. It comes off the diagnostic harness, peel the covering back and check, if its red, power it, if its brown, ground it.

So I have the Starter B+, a 8ish gauge cable and that's it. Then there is another + cable that is not involved in the diagnostic connector?

And what type of harness are you using? Engine?

All power wires in the DME have power.

I am going to be swapping this DME with somebody else and seeing if it starts his car.

                      Any other ideas guys.

                        The computer works just fine....

Anybody have the x6000 pin out FOR the M3. I have the one for the 325 but its missing a couple wires.

I cut pin 66 for ews at the x6000 connector and at the C101.

Well that was stupid, reversed the fuel lines.

Send to front, return to rear.

                            did you get it working?

if not, the try disconnecting the wires for the SI board and try to start again :)

I had similar problem where it would sometimes start and most of the time not... I disconnected the SI wires and haven't had issues with that since...

Reversed the fuel lines. Ran just fine after that.

Thanks for the info though :)
