Question Regarding Swapping Red and Silver 413 ECUs

I have a 95 325i sitting in the driveway that I bought to part out. The PO let it sit for a year+ and said the engine was running fine when it was parked. It also has an aftermarket security system that has the transmitter chip wired into something that wraps around the ignition.

I drained the gas and put good gas in it. It cranks but I'm not getting fire nor fuel - no fire, no fuel pressure, no nothing. In my experience that usually indicates that the security system is pissed off and of course it has the 413 silver label ECU.

Is it possible to just pop a red label 413 and start this thing up?

Yes, but if the security is disabling the ignition it's not going to help.

Can you remove the security system?

I'd try a red label DME, and perhaps cutting win .. 66? And removing the aftermarket security, what is it tapped into?

Also, do you still have all of the car? I want a few bolts and crap :)

The car is complete, the only problem is the transmission is blown and it has a small bit of damage to the rear passenger side tail light.

It's not the security system that has disabled the ignition I think it's the EWS causing the problem. I may have to dig into it to be sure though.

I just wanted to see if I swap a 413 red label into this car would it start up without an EWS ECU.

I believe you'd have to disconnect the EWS ring on the steering column, and the ews ecu. Then don't see why the red label wouldn't work.

I recently had a no-start condition in my swapped s50 with a silver label ECU w/EWS delete chip.

After replacing the fuel pump to no avail, I tried a red label ECU and the car started right up. It hunted at idle (I have the TMS Schricks setup w/chip) so I put the silver label chip in the red label ECU and life is good again.

Based on my experience, you can exchange the two ECU's and the car will start even without the proper chip.

I had an ews problem on a silver label 95 m3.

              First try this:
Pop in red label DME, and unplug ews module that lives under glovebox. If that doesn't work cut wire 66 to dme.

I did it in this order, swap DME no run, cut wire no run, unplug ews module and it ran. I don't know if I had to cut the wire, but with the wire cut and EWS module still attached it didn't run, I can tell you that much.
