Arrow corresponds to the notch you will see at one end of the socket it fits in.

      thanks!

now, the car won't start. i hooked up the 3.5hfm and installed the chip. i know my engine is late 95 and i have silver 413. how can you tell if my 413 had ews? here's the spec for the chip.

      - 413 DME
      - 3.5" HFM - Bosch 800 Unit
      - 17.5# injectors
      - EWS-II
      - S50 Motor

waht else can i check? could it be my hfm? the engine only cranks.

It's because you have a chip designated for the Silver Label 413 ECU (EWS). You need the chip designed for the 506 ECU (can be used in a 413 ECU w/out problems) or the same thing but stating that you want to delete EWS.

          Hope this makes sense.

i know the chip is for silver 413 with ews. i'm assuming my 413 had ews and it should work. i got the chip really cheap that's why i tried it.

my problem is determining what kind of silver 413 do i have and why the chip is not working. if it doesn't work i'll just sell the chip.

What I am trying to say is that the silver-label 413 will not work in an E30 unless the chip is stated to have EWS-delete. Pretty sure just because it had it before, doesn't mean that it should work now.

What ECU/Chip combo have you been running? How was the car wired? Perhaps someone who has successfully wired/used an OBD-I S50 w/ EWS can chime in.
