    S54 SMG harness and ECU

    Hi Gang,

I have already swapped an s54 into my e30 race car. I was hit in a race by a Spec Miata pushing me into a wall and as I wait for parts to fix I have found another s54 and will start another swap.

Last time I used a s54/6MT harness and ECU and had the programming done by Randy at Epic. I was very happy with his work but as this one is for a street car I may use one of the services on here. I lengthened the harness by hand (one strand at a time) crimping and double wall shrink tubing and so far so good.

My question is that the new engine/ harness and ECU came from an SMG car. Any issues with the SMG harness and ECU to use on a 5MT car?

    thanks

Nope none at all. You'll just have lots of wire left over which you can cut doen and isolate

^ 100% correct. SMG will have a bunch of extra wiring left over.

After taking a look at Turk's uk website, I'm amazed at the progress that has been made for PnP setups. Thumbs up TURK!

I am personally running the bimmerworld harness setup with a race tune from Randy.
Good luck! It's nice to see a DIY for something like this...keep the thread updated with progress for sure.

Did you ever dyno the race car before the accident? Just curious...as I put down 323 with stock manifold and stock headers with chopped off cats.

rather than cutting the harness, you can remove the pins from the connectors and pull it apart. the M3 harness is pretty modular and easy to work on, so you shouldn't have to actually cut anything or leave extra wires hanging around.

Yes we dyno'ed, 319 IIRC. I have a big Yukon intake and fleabay headers and Randy called me out on it from the data!

            Randy knows his stuff!
