    ELiminating Idle

    Hello!

im new to the forum! i've been reading loads of stuff, really great info available!

I have a couple of questions, and hope somebody can help me out.

Im building an S54 for a track car only. This car has individual brakes, etc, so it won't need a brake booster.

Question is, can i get rid of the vacuum tube next to the fuel rail? and seal the TB vacuum port? i will need a vacuum for my FPR, so i can do a custom plug on one of the TB for this.

Im new to the S54 world, so i hope its okay for me to ask questions!

    thanks!!!

why? it's going to be really hard to get a stable vacuum readout without that distribution manifold. you know people with aftermarket ITBs often have to build something like that from scratch, right?

a vac reading on one TB is going to be pretty poor. that's why they added the manifold.

      mmm

my s14 race engine has the FPR from one TB and its working just fine... i just need to know if there will be any problem getting rid of that tube and putting plugs on the other 5 TB

      thanks for the help!

Are you running standalone? The ICV is integrated into the throttle input on the S54, if you are using a stock computer its not going to work without that tube (or the ICV).

I guess i just don't get the point of deleting it.

i will be running the oem ecu, but flashed... i guess they can delete ICV from the program

Real race engines don't have ICV, you start them and play with them until they get in temperature.

i just need the vacuum for the FPR, thats it

are you sure about that? it's integrated deeply within the throttle control algorithm. actually I've been working on cutting out much of that myself and it's not as simple as a couple bytes or anything.

not sure what you gain by deleting it, but whatever. I told you what I know about it. :)

found the air tube, so im not deleting the idle anymore!!

im stuck with the drive by wire, i would love to delete it, but lots of people say its better for the functionality of the ECU, so i think ill just keep it

do you know what difference is between the SMG throttle pedal and the 6 speed?
if my ecu came from a smg, but i am running 6 speed, which pedal should i buy??

              thanks!

you can't delete DBW and use the stock ECU. not unless you are good at assembly programming..

there's no difference between SMG and 6 speed. actually, any E46 pedal will work, or any BMW of the same generation (E53, mini, etc)
